GCSC
(Gago Coutinho Sacadura Cabral)
The GCSC competed in DBF 2025 and Aerocup 2025, achieving 28th place overall (3rd among European teams) and 1st place in the Manual Class, respectively.
The aircraft is primarily constructed from Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP), balsa wood, and plywood, combining high structural strength with low weight.
The GCSC features a retractable landing gear, a semi-elliptical wing, and a V-tail configuration, design choices that reduce aerodynamic drag and improve overall flight efficiency.
Additionally, the aircraft is capable of carrying and releasing an autonomous glider (the X-1) during flight and supports a maximum payload of 8.5 kg, consisting of two bottles filled with high-density tungsten alloy.
