Portugal Air Navigation
NAV Portugal is a national public entity that guarantees air traffic services in the two large areas under Portuguese responsibility, the flight information regions of Lisbon and Santa Maria.
The company was created on December 18, 1998 due to the growth of aviation in Portugal in order to guarantee the safe and efficient provision of aviation. NAV Portugal has its headquarters, as well as the air traffic control center next to Portela airport. There is also an ocean control center on the island of Santa Maria in the Azores.
NAV has air traffic control bodies that guarantee the provision of Air Traffic Services at the main airports in Portugal: Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Funchal, Porto Santo, Santa Maria, Ponta Delgada, Horta and Flores. Through a protocol, NAV is also responsible for providing the air traffic control service at the Cascais Municipal Aerodrome (Tires).
