In this exclusive interview, we had the opportunity to share our journey, the challenges we’ve faced, and the significance of this historic achievement for Portugal. For the first time ever, a Portuguese team will compete in this prestigious event, set to take place in April in Arizona, USA.
This feature highlights the impact of our work and the dedication of our entire team. We are committed to representing the University of Beira Interior and Portugal at the highest level in international aerospace engineering!

It is with a great sense of accomplishment that we announce the submission of the “Design/Build/Fly 2025” report. This is much more than a technical milestone; it is a significant step that represents months of intense work, long nights, and great challenges.
We’ve completed another step on this journey and, above all, another step in the right direction toward the goal that drives us. Being the first Portuguese team to represent our country on this international stage is an immense responsibility that we embrace with honor, pride, and determination.
The journey continues, and the flight is far from over, but we want to thank everyone who believes in and is part of this journey. Because, in this case, the sky is not just the beginning, it is our destination
Intermunicipal Assembly Presents Vote of Praise to UBI Aeronautics Team!

The Intermunicipal Assembly of Beiras and Serra da Estrela unanimously approved a vote of praise for the UBI Aeronautics Team (UBIAT) from the University of Beira Interior. Founded in 2023, the team was recently admitted to the prestigious “Design/Build/Fly” competition, which will take place in Arizona in April 2025. This recognition highlights their innovative work and the achievement of being the first Portuguese team to participate in this international aeronautical event.

UBIAT is officially qualified for DBF25!

It’s official! The UBI Aeronautics Team has qualified for the ‘Design / Build / Fly’ competition in 2025, which will take place in Arizona, United States of America.
UBIAT and the University of Beira Interior thus become the first Portuguese university team to compete in this format alongside many other prestigious universities worldwide, such as MIT, Stanford, and many more.
We are proud to represent the United States of America as a team, as representatives of UBI, and, above all, as representatives of Portugal!
Participation in the event: ‘Innovation and Technological Modernization in the Army’ promoted by the Portuguese Army

On November 19th and 20th, UBIAT had the pleasure of participating in the 3rd edition of the event "Innovation and Technological Modernization in the Army" at TagusPark in Oeiras.It was an incredible opportunity to establish connections and learn not only about new companies with innovative ideas and projects but also about the logistics and operations of the Portuguese Army and its plans for the future. A huge thank you to the Portuguese Army for the invitation and hospitality, and a special thanks to UBI for supporting the team, making our presence at this event possible.
Participation in the event: ‘A World of Opportunities for the Defense Industry’ promoted by the Portuguese Army

On October 26, the UBI Aeronautics Team, composed of Aeronautical Engineering students, participated in the technology exhibition ‘A World of Opportunities for the Defense Industry’ as part of the Army Day Celebrations, at the Rio Diz Urban Park in the city of Guarda. At the EXPO-Army, the team showcased, statically, the plane that achieved third place in the international Air Cargo Challenge 2024 competition.

On July 12th, UBIAT secured third place on the podium at the Air Cargo Challenge 2024 in Aachen. The team could not be prouder of this achievement and grateful to all the partners and friends who helped us reach this goal. After so many months, so many nights of hard work, it is undoubtedly gratifying to see all the effort and dedication finally convert into successful results.
