Team 25-26

We are the "UBI Aeronautics Team" composed of students specializing in Aeronautical Engineering and Computer Science Engineering from the Universidade da Beira Interior. After earning a 28th place out of 112 teams in DBF2025, in Tucson, Arizona, the team is now dedicated to an upcoming participation in ACC, slated for Stuttgart in June 2026.

Our team operates through a structured framework of 6 subsystems, each focusing on distinct aspects of project implementation. Each subsystem is led by a coordinator responsible for managing operations and providing comprehensive reports to the team leader. Additionally, we also have a Research and Development Section, whose work is to help the other sections' projects.

Our mission extends beyond competition participation; we strive to advance aeronautical knowledge and innovation, contributing positively to both academic discourse and public awareness of aerospace technologies.

Subjects

Aerodynamics

The Aerodynamics sub-team is responsible for the overall aircraft configuration. For that it is need airfoil, stability and control analysis.

Structures

The Structures sub-team is responsible for designing all the structural components of the aircraft, including the wings, fuselage, tail and other parts.

Propulsion and Electronics

The Propulsion and Electronics sub-team is responsible for all the electronics used in the aircraft such as acquisition systems and servo motors while also working around data from the propulsion systems to achieve the best performance possible.

Manufacturing

The Manufacturing sub-team is responsible for the practical process including carbon fiber, glass fiber laminating, hot wire foam cutting and all practical process needed.

Marketing

The Marketing sub-team is in charge of all the social media management, the link with external companies and representation in events, making the UBIAT name known in every part of the world.

Research & Development

The Research and Development sub-team is responsible for developing, analyzing, and validating innovative aerodynamic and structural solutions to optimize the team’s aircraft performance.
